Meet the Bosses
Adam Meckler and Jana Nyberg are a musician power-couple based in Minneapolis, MN. After a decade of working as bandleaders and freelancers, they dreamt of a tool that could be used to manage their hectic schedules and finances. Gig Boss was born.
Adam Meckler
Adam is a trumpet player, composer, and educator living in Minneapolis, MN. He is an Edwards Instrument Co. Performing Artist and Clinician, and leads The Adam Meckler Orchestra (AMO), an 18 piece big band that plays his original compositions. The AMO's debut album 'When the Clouds Look Like This' was listed among 2014's Best Jazz Releases by iTunes. Adam holds faculty positions in trumpet and Jazz at Macalester College, MCTC, and MacPhail Center for Music. He tours and records with The Hornheads (Prince), Youngblood Brass Band, and Nooky Jones, and plays regularly with a host of bands around the Twin Cities including Lulu's Playground, The Jana Nyberg Group, Jack Brass Band, The Graydon Peterson Quartet, and The Pete Whitman X-Tet. His Spring 2019 release “Magnificent Madness” comes out on Ropeadope Sur Records, and features collaborations with Hip Hip artists and soul and gospel singers.
Jana Nyberg
Jana is a vocalist, flautist, and band director from Minneapolis, MN. She appeared on Season 10 of American Idol and has released four full-length albums to date.
Known for her expressive and soulful approach, she effortlessly shifts between genres. A sought-after performer and recording artist, Nyberg has collaborated with Gigamesh, The Adam Meckler Orchestra, Jason Peterson DeLaire (Michael Bolton), Unus, Rass Kwame and others. On stage, she brings a vibrancy and passion that is infectious and ignites her audiences.
Nyberg's newest project, The Jana Nyberg 5, released their freshman effort, "Set On You," in August of 2017. The JN5 pushes small ensemble vocal jazz to the modern edge with exciting interpretations of well-loved standards and obscure gems alike. The Current named Nyberg one of "Ten Women To Know On The Twin Cities Jazz Scene" in 2018.
Reid Poole
Reid Poole is a seasoned software engineer and professional musician with over 20 years of experience. He spent a decade as a bandleader in New Orleans, performing with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and teaching as an adjunct professor at Dillard University. Now based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Reid continues to lead bands and perform. Mixing his passion for music, music education, and music software, Reid is dedicated to creating creative and practical solutions that support the musical community as a whole.
Joey Hua
Joey is a rapper/singer/producer and software engineer living in Davis, CA. He graduated from UC Davis in 2022 and has been pursuing his dual passions in music and programming ever since, making Gig Boss a perfect matrimony of both areas. Joey releases original music under the name Joronoa and also is the lead vocalist of an indie rock band named All Blue.
Drew Layton
Drew is a full-stack developer for Gig Boss. Prior to his career as a software developer, Drew was a professional poker player, where he employed a highly analytical, data-driven approach to the game. After 16 years he decided it was time for a change, and in 2022 he attended the Turing School of Software and Design’s backend program to kick off his career as a software developer. Since then, he also attended the full-stack bootcamp FastTrack, where he learned front-end development and grew into a full-stack developer. When he’s not coding, you can find Drew playing the piano, video games, or camping.
